Mustard is a one of the major oil seed crops in our country. It is under cruciferae family and scientific name is Brassica campestris. Mustard seed contains 40-50% oil and 20-25% protein. Three cultivated mustard species are B. campestries, B. juncea and B. napus. Sowing time of mustard is robi season(middle of October to end of November). In our agronomy field mustard plant was grown in last winter by some students as their practical job. At that picture the plants are in flowering stage.

Sesame is an important oilseed crop in Bangladesh. It is commonly known
as til. Sesame seed contains 38-54% oil and 18-20% protein. It is under
pedaliaceae and scientific name is Sesamum indicum. It is
grown
both in Kharif I &II season. Sesame plant in the picture was grown
in Kharif-I season in BSMRAU. The plants are in flowering stage.

seed contains 40-45% oil which is used both as edible and industrial
oil. Sunflower oil is consider as most suitable for human consumption
due to presence of high level of linoleic acid and absence of linolenic
acid. For this reason its oil is good for the people having heart
disease. Growing season of sunflower is robi and kharif-2.

Linseed is a oilseed crop that was grown at rabi season in the BSMRAU agronomy field. In Bangladesh it is commonly known as tishi. It is under Linaceae family and scientific name is Linum usitatissimum. It is grown in our country for both oil and fiber. This image shows the reproductive stage of linseed.
