Blackgram is commonly known as mashkalai in Bangladesh.It is an popular pulse crop in our country.  Seeds of blackgram are rich in protein(24%), carbohydrate(60%), vitamins and minerals. It is under leguminosae family and scientific name is Vigna mungo. The plants are erect or sub-erect, much branched annuals and the leaves are trifoliate. The stem, leaves and pods are covered with reddish brown hairs. It is grown in Kharif-I&II and late Robi seasons.

  In our agronomy field mungbean plants have been planted in kharif-1 season. The crop is still now in field, at vegetative stage. It is a pulse crop. It is commonly known as mugdal in Bangladesh. Mungbean seeds contain about 25% protein of high digestibility. The plants are erect or sub-erect, much branched annuals and the leaves are trifoliate. It is under leguminosae family and scientific name is Vigna radiata. It can be grown as solecrop, intercrop, mixed crop and relay crop.

At rabi season pea was grown in our agronomy field. It is a pulse crop. It is under leguminosae family and scientific name is Pisum sativum. The crop grain is rich in protein. It is an image of the crop at flowering stage.

Chickpea was grown at rabi season in the agronomy field. It is a pulse crop. It is under leguminosae family
and scientific name is Cicer arietinum. It is the deshi  or brown type chick pea. The plants are erect or semi-spreading with good branching ability. The image was taken when the crop was at reproductive stage.

Grasspea is commonly known as kheshari in Bangladesh. Among the pulses grown in this country, grasspea holds the first position in terms of both cultivation area and production. It is under leguminosae family. Scientific name is Lathyrus sativus. It contains 25% protein in its seed. It is grown in robi season in our country. At the last winter it was grown in our field by us which was a part of our practical field job. 

Lentil plants

Lentil is an important pulse crop in our country. It is under leguminosae family and scientific name is Lens esculentus. It contains high percent of protein(25-30%) in its seeds. It is grown in robi season in our country. At the last winter it was grown in our field by us which was a part of our practical field job.
